The 2026 Kimberley Experience brought students and staff from Chisholm Catholic College and St Mary’s College together for a powerful week of learning, connection and shared discovery. From learning on Yawuru Country to collaborating at the inaugural Kimberley Innovation Festival, students had the opportunity to share their own knowledge and skills while learning from one another, their communities and Country. At the heart of the experience was a genuine City–Country partnership, one built on reciprocity, relationships and the understanding that everyone has something to teach and something to learn.

Trinity Grammar School students recently travelled to the Northern Territory for their annual Central Australia Immersion Tour, spending time with partner communities at Murray Downs School and Alekarenge School. The seven-day experience provided opportunities for students to learn on Country, connect with local communities and deepen their understanding of different perspectives, while building friendships and strengthening the relationships at the heart of the partnership. The experience continues to demonstrate the powerful impact of meaningful city-country connections for students, staff and communities.

Sacred Heart Primary School Highgate and Chisholm Catholic College students are in Broome this week for the Kimberley Innovation Festival, hosted by St Mary’s College, for a week of STEM discovery, workshops and hands-on learning led by industry professionals and partners, plus staff and student-led activities. Meriden has formed a partnership with the Yadha Muru Foundation, Ti Tree School and Neutral Junction School to support attendance, teacher development and cultural understanding. The partnership also creates opportunities for exchange, on-Country learning and stronger connections between students and educators across both communities.

Students from nine Northern Territory schools are benefiting from Yadha Muru Foundation’s City-Country Partnerships Program, which links remote schools with city partners to support learning, engagement and attendance. The program was recently showcased at the foundation’s inaugural symposium in Darwin.

Students from Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, Waiben joined peers from Brisbane to present innovative STEM projects tackling real-world issues in the Torres Strait, from ghost nets to food security. The showcase highlighted the strength of a city-country partnership grounded in culture, collaboration and practical problem-solving.

More than $500,000 has been raised for Tiwi College after Cyclone Fina, with the amount set to be doubled through matching support linked to partner school Scotch College. The appeal will help repair classrooms, boarding houses and other essential facilities damaged in the storm.

Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, Waiben is partnering with St Finbarr’s School, Ashgrove and St Thomas More College, Sunnybank in a city-country STEM initiative shaped by First Nations perspectives. Supported by the Yadha Muru Foundation, the partnership connects students across Queensland through shared learning, cultural exchange and career inspiration.
