PULiiMA Indigenous Languages and Technology Conference

YMF Director Cherie Johnson and Ti Tree School representatives Cindy Presley and April Campbell reunited at PULiiMA Indigenous Languages and Technology Conference in August on Larrakia Country in Darwin.

This conference is a biennial event that brings together people from all over Australia and internationally to explore innovative project ideas and cutting-edge products and equipment that can be used in community-based Indigenous language projects.

The conference also provides an opportunity for networking with an inspiring group of people who are all committed to conserving and celebrating the languages of Australia.

We acknowledge the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Nations who were the first sovereign peoples of the Australian continent and its adjacent islands, and possessed it under their own laws and customs.

We pay respect to their Elders - past, present and future. We make a commitment to move forward in a spirit of reconciliation. We value the unique status of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the original custodians of these lands and waters. Our nation must have the courage to own the truth and to heal the wounds of its past so that we can move on together at peace with ourselves. We want a future where all Australians enjoy their rights, accept their responsibilities, and have the opportunity to achieve their full potential. We dare to hope for a united country where all Australians respect this land of ours; value the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander heritage; and value the unique cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders and those who have come more recently to this land.
