Andrew Lloyd joins Yadha Muru Foundation

We are delighted to announce that Andrew Lloyd joined Yadha Muru Foundation as the Director of the City-Country Partnerships Program in January 2023. Andrew brings to the role over 30 years of experience in the education sector, with a strong focus on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander education.

Andrew originally trained as an engineer, but he soon found his passion for teaching. He has worked in a variety of settings, including remote, rural, and regional schools, as well as the Northern Territory Department of Education. In all of these roles, he has been committed to building relationships with students, families, and communities.

Andrew is a strong believer in the power of partnerships to transform education. He is convinced that when schools work together, they can create opportunities for all students to succeed. He is also passionate about sharing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and history with metropolitan students.

We are confident that Andrew will be a great asset to Yadha Muru Foundation. He is a talented educator with a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. We look forward to working with him to build strong partnerships that will make a difference in the lives of young people.

Here are some of Andrew’s accomplishments:

  • Authored academic papers and a Masters thesis on interschool partnerships
  • Worked for 25 years in remote, rural, and regional schools
  • Extensive experience building relationships with Elders, families, and students in remote communities
  • Supported remote schools, developed strategy, and led a team as part of the NT Indigenous Education Strategy
  • Principal of Gateway Community High, a special assistance school based in Sydney
