Sean Gordon

Founder | Chief Executive Officer

Sean is a Wangkumarra and Barkindji man and a strong advocate for empowerment and self-determination for Indigenous communities. He is the Managing Director of the Gidgee Group and the chairperson of the Empowered Communities, Empowered People Leadership Group.  Sean is deeply connected to community and has served on numerous boards and advisory groups. He is Chairperson of the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Dance Academy and was the inaugural Chairman of the Commonwealth Bank Indigenous Advisory Committee.

Sean is also supporting constitutional change as Chair of Uphold and Recognise. Sean was previously CEO of the Darkinjung Local Aboriginal Land Council. Sean received his Bachelor of Education in Adult Education in 2000 from the University of Technology Sydney and a Graduate Certificate in Education from the University of Melbourne in 2019. As an educator, Sean has developed and implemented vocational education programs with the TAFE NSW Hunter Institute, and advised the NSW Government on the development of culturally responsible strategies for Aboriginal adult education. He has completed an Atlantic Fellowship for Social Equity at Melbourne University and  in 2016 he was awarded the UTS Alumni Award for Excellence. Sean was a key architect and signatory of the Uluru Statement From The Heart.
