Inaugural Symposium City-Country Partnerships Impact Statements

Yadha Muru Foundation (YMF) hosted its Inaugural Symposium in October 2024 in Darwin, bringing together educators, leaders and community members to celebrate and strengthen the City-Country Partnership Program, school partnerships. The event highlighted the impact of these collaborations, showcasing how reciprocal learning, cultural exchange and shared educational resources are transforming opportunities for students in remote and metropolitan communities. With a focus on language, cultural education, and Indigenous-led curriculum development, the Symposium aimed to pave the way for lasting, equitable educational outcomes across Australia.

We acknowledge the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Nations who were the first sovereign peoples of the Australian continent and its adjacent islands, and possessed it under their own laws and customs.

We pay respect to their Elders - past, present and future. We make a commitment to move forward in a spirit of reconciliation. Our nation must have the courage to own the truth and to heal the wounds of its past so that we can move on together at peace with ourselves. We want a future where all Australians enjoy their rights, accept their responsibilities, and have the opportunity to achieve their full potential. We dare to hope for a united country where all Australians respect this land of ours; value the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander heritage; and value the unique cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders and those who have come more recently to this land.
